Movie Crews Scheduled to Film On SLU’s Campus
11/07/2023
A movie production crew will be filming scenes on the Saint Louis University campus for an upcoming movie based on the life of SLU alum John O’Leary.
Crews are scheduled to film on campus on Thursday, Nov. 9, and Friday, Nov. 10. Filming is scheduled to take place inside the former YWCA building on campus and outside near Morrissey Hall, the Lipic Clock Tower Plaza and the Center for Global Citizenship.
Additional filming is scheduled for Chaifetz Arena later this month and Salus Center in early December.
Members of the SLU community are to be advised that there could be delays and detours when traveling around campus while crews are filming the outdoor scenes on Friday morning.
Crews are expected to film for the majority of the day. There also will be some nighttime filming.
The filming is part of the production for the movie “On Fire.” The movie is based on O’Leary’s book of the same name.
O’Leary (CSB ’99) was 9 years old in 1987 when he was so badly burned in an accident that doctors gave him less than a 1% chance of survival. He detailed his journey to recovery in the 2016 best-seller “On Fire: The 7 Choices to Ignite a Radically Inspired Life.”
O’Leary shared his story at the 2023 spring commencement ceremony.
