Study Participants Needed for Type 1 Diabetes Research Study

10/18/2023

SLU Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Research is looking for volunteers for a Type 1 diabetes research study.

We are seeking both healthy individuals WITHOUT diabetes, as well as individuals who have Type 1 diabetes.  Participants must be adults, age 18-65 years of age.

The purpose of this research is to compare levels of a hormone called neuronostatin in individuals with Type I diabetes with the levels found in healthy individuals.  This may help researchers better understand how this hormone works in Type I diabetes.

Study participation will consist of two (2) study visits, at least one (1) week apart.  Subjects will undergo a meal study, and then an insulin infusion procedure.
Financial compensation is available to qualifying participants.

For more information about this study, please contact Jennifer Newman, Research Nurse Coordinator, at 314-977-9320 (phone), or by email at jennifer.newman@health.slu.edu.  This research study is being conducted under the direction of Sandeep Dhindsa, M.D. and in collaboration with Gina Yosten, Ph.D.
