Grand Avenue Crosswalk Closing for Repairs
10/26/2023
As a part of Saint Louis University's ongoing maintenance to campus, one crosswalk on Grand Avenue will be temporarily closed for repair work.
This is the crosswalk running across Grand closest to the north side of Ritter Hall and the entrance to the lower level of DuBourg Hall on the eastern side closest to Lindell Avenue.
There will be two phases in order to allow for continuous (but reduced) vehicle traffic on Grand Ave. Please note that this crosswalk will be inaccessible to pedestrian, bike, golf cart, etc access during both phases.
Phase 1
- The first phase will tackle the inside lanes in both directions and the median at the affected crosswalk
- This phase will close the inside north and southbound lanes (as well as median) of Grand Ave at starting at 6 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 3.
- The plan is to reopen these lanes at 6 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 6.
All four driving lanes will be open to vehicle traffic as well as the crosswalk from reopening on Nov. 6 until Phase 2 closure on Friday, Nov. 10.
Phase 2
- Phase 2 will work on the outside lanes in both directions at the affected crosswalk
- This phase will close the outside north and southbound lanes of Grand starting at 6 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10.
- The plan is to reopen these lanes at 6am on Monday, Nov. 13.
The planned work is weather dependent and so the schedule could possibly change in order to complete the project within a timely manner.
