The annual Saint Louis University Dance Festival returns to the Xavier Hall Main Stage Theatre on December 1 and December 2.
This event is sponsored by the Department of Visual and Performing Arts and will feature SLU student dance groups Phases of Motion, Elevation Irish Dance, and Sazón.
Each student group will have its own performance. The schedule is as follows:
- Elevation Irish Dance | Friday, Dec. 1, 2023 at 5 p.m.
- Phases of Motion | Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023 at 2 p.m.

Elevation Irish Dance Team is keeping the cheer of Irish culture alive through traditional and exciting world-class performances. The dancers exhibit talent that has been seen in regional, national, and world-wide levels of Irish dancing.
Phases of Motion is a student-led dance company that choreographs its own dances and performs at its own biannual showcase, as well as various events on campus. The styles of dances performed include jazz, lyrical, modern, tap, ballet, hip hop, and musical theater.
Sazón is the only dance team on campus that features Latin rhythms (salsa, bachata, cha-cha-cha, and more) in addition to aerial stunts (subidas) and sudden dips (caídas), oftentimes borrowing from other genres of dance like ballet, hip hop, and swing in order to create a more exhilarating experience for the audience. This group want to recognize the diverse student body at SLU, increase cultural awareness, promote physical and mental wellness on campus through dance, and expose audience members to the Spanish language through international songs and lyrics.
Admission for the Dance Festival is free and open to the public. Doors open 30 minutes prior to each performance.
The Xavier Hall Main Stage is located on the ground floor of Xavier Hall on the SLU campus at 3733 West Pine Mall, one block east of Vandeventer Boulevard and one block south of Lindell Boulevard. Parking is available in the Queen's Daughters Hall lot located at 3730 Lindell Blvd.
