Saint Louis University Career Services hosted the Trends in Recruiting 2024 conference on Monday, April 8, on behalf of the Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers. One hundred and ten employer and career service members attended.
The conference began with a presentation from Phil Gardner, Ph.D., of Drexel University, formerly with the Collegiate Employment Research Institute at Michigan State University. Gardner presented research about AI, inflation, credentialing, and other factors that could influence recruiting trends.
Mary Scott, the Managing Partner at Scott Resource Group, then gave a presentation on how students can be recruited. Scott also showed that students are highly influenced by interpersonal connections.
Next was the Student and Employer Experiential Learning Panel. This panel included staff host Jeffery L. Jackson, Ph D., students Eric Battle, Darcy Taylor, and Nora Samad, and employers Allison Wiley with Pella Corporation, and Kledia Kyser with Enterprise Mobility. Topics such as student and employer internship experiences, the value of internships, and the benefits of networking, were discussed.
Attendees then received the option to attend different seminars. These seminars were:
- International Students: Career Support Services and the Hiring Landscape with presenters Emily Li with Saint Louis University Career Services, Eliza Angarano with Washington University Career Development, and Nalini Mahadevan with MLO Law, LLC.
