DICE Cultural and Belonging Grants Winners Announced

Diversity and Innovative Community Engagement (DICE), which exists to lead inclusivity, belonging and cultural enrichment at SLU, has announced the winners of the Inaugural DICE Cultural and Belonging Grants.
The grants underscore the university's commitment to fostering a sense of belonging among underrepresented and minoritized communities on campus.
Applications came in from diverse corners of the campus community. After careful deliberation, the following projects emerged as winners of the 2024 cycle:
- Be Heard: Breaking and Powering through the Bamboo Ceiling for Asian Women in Leadership by Jintong Tang, Ph.D.,, recipient of $2,500.
- Bilingual Advocacy Week for the Professions proposed by Spanish Club/Monique Valdepenas, awarded $2,000.
- Latine Community Always Here, Here Always, envisioned by Flannery Burke, Ph.D., secured a $2,500.
- Yoga en español by Languages, Literatures, and Cultures/Christina Garcia, Ph.D., granted $1,000.
- The Hispanic Heritage Month initiative by OASIS/Nathalie Villalobos was granted $2,500.
These projects, from advocating for Asian women in leadership to celebrating Hispanic heritage, embody the spirit of inclusivity and empowerment that defines Saint Louis University and the work DICE wants to champion, organizers said.
Members of the DICE team expressed a heartfelt congratulations to the grant winners and express gratitude to all who contributed to this year's grant cycle.
