Saint Louis University Prepares to Celebrate Alumni Fan Fest
02/07/2024
Whether their thunderous cheers reverberated off the walls of the West Pine Gym, Chaifetz Arena or one of the other designated home courts at St. Louis-area sports centers, one constant remains: Saint Louis University graduates know how to rally their teams.
And on Feb. 24, they will have the chance to rumble again at the Alumni Fan Fest — the biggest Billiken fan celebration of the year.
“Fan Fest is a fun fest, giving donors and alums a chance to socialize along with great food and drink,” said Jack Buelt (’53, Chaifetz School of Business), a loyal Billikens fan. “Then being able to top it off with a Billiken game in the great atmosphere of Chaifetz Arena makes you proud to be an alum and a supporter.” Echoing Buelt’s affinity for the Billikens will be 17 of his family members who will be cheering right along with him at the event.
Started in 2014, the annual Alumni Fan Fest draws more than 300 alumni and their families to SLU’s home court to cheer on the men’s basketball team. This year’s event includes:
- A pregame reception from noon to 2 p.m.
- The Billikens vs. the George Washington Revolutionaries men’s basketball game with tip-off at 2 p.m.
- New, exclusive SLU scrunchies and SLU headband-wristband sets, available for purchase at the time of registration
Alumni Fan Fest tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis through February 20, or until tickets sell out.
“It’s so much fun to have local alumni and their families of all ages come together to support the Billikens, especially since the teams are such an important part of the whole SLU experience,” said Jessica BouAoun, director of signature and affinity programming for Saint Louis University. “We love how so many alumni want to maintain engagement with the University, stay connected with one another and share their love of SLU with family and friends.”
Billiken Parent and Family Association (BPFA) Fan Fest
In addition to the hundreds of alumni cheering on the Billikens on February 24, current SLU families will have the opportunity to do the same at the Billiken Parent and Family Association (BPFA) Fan Fest, held on the same night, followed by a women’s basketball game Sunday.
Although separate events, both fan celebrations give SLU alumni and SLU families the opportunity to connect with others in the school community and cheer on some of their favorite athletes.
