Saint Louis University Marks Black History Month
In honor of Black History Month, the Saint Louis University community is hosting a series of events throughout February celebrating Black culture and achievements.

School Of Medicine ODEI Black History Speaker Series
The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the School of Medicine has organized a Black History Month Speaker Series with a different speaker or panel each Friday in February at noon. This year, the national theme for the month is African Americans and the Arts. Participants will hear from community members, SLU faculty, physicians, residents, and medical students who will share their experiences and connections to the arts.
Charles R. Drew Blood Drive
The blood drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, in the Saint Louis Room in Busch Student Center.
Second Annual Black History Month Gala & Awards Ceremony
Presented by the Cross Cultural Center for Global Citizenship and the Office of Alumni Engagement, the Second Annual Black History Month Gala & Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday, February 17, at 7 p.m. in the Center for Global Citizenship’s auditorium. Join the University in recognizing and celebrating the achievements and success of the SLU Black Community!

- First Friday – The CGC partners with Sodexo to invite West African-cuisine restaurant Fufu n Sauce to take over Grand Dining Hall on Friday, Feb. 2, for lunch as part of the First Friday series. The menu includes egusi and rice, sweet plantains, chicken yassa and fufu.
- Alchemy Dance & Cypher: An Ode to Black Art – 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, in the Center for Global Citizenship auditorium.
- Black Organization Fair – Friday, Feb. 9.
- 31st Annual Ernest A. Calloway Black Alumni Association Prayer Breakfast - Saint Louis University’s Black Alumni Association Prayer Breakfast will be held on Feb 10. The event is complimentary, but all guests are encouraged to make a gift to support SLU's Pioneers of Inclusion Scholarship Fund.
- Black Table Talk – Events will be held on Monday, Feb. 19; Tuesday, Feb. 20; and Wednesday, Feb. 21.
- NPHC Late Night Breakfast – 8-11 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21, in the CGC Auditorium.
- Paint & Craft Night - The Cross Cultural Center will host a Black History Month themed paint and craft night at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, in the CGC Seminar Room.
- School Of Medicine ODEI Black History Month Talent Show - The 2024 theme for Black History Month is African Americans and the Arts. The event will be held from 3-4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23.
- Harambe: Black Student Association Dance event will be held on Saturday, March 2.
