Before transitioning to academics, Walsh had a career at the intersection of innovation, technology, and media. She started her career in Private Equity working for a Latin American REIT, eventually becoming the head of Business Development. During that time, she was recruited to help lead the NASA AMES Robotics Lab, a partnership with NASA to build a leading Robotics education program for high school aged students.

She held an assortment of roles advising, investing, and mentoring startups. Walsh co-founded a media innovation agency with clients and partners like Disney, Microsoft, OMD, and Acura. Her last role before transitioning away from being a full-time technology executive was as the global head of business for a multinational technology company.

Her writings on Venture Capital, media, and technology have been published in Forbes, Adweek, and I.N.C, and she was one of the top writers on Quora. She executive produced and hosted the Failure Project for Refinery29. She has been invited to speak all over the world for events at CES, SWSX, Cannes Lyons, etc.

Walsh has made an effort to be involved in giving back, serving as an advisory board member for Music for Relief and an invited advisor for the United Nations Brain Trust and, most recently, the Center for Policing Equity.
