OVPR Invites Faculty to Share Their ORCID ID
01/24/2024
An ORCID ID is a numerical identifier that is a quick and easy way to identify and curate an academic profile. It can help compile crucial information, such as a person's employment and educational experiences, publication history, and funding profile.
An ORCID ID can also aid in populating faculty profiles using the Elements and Discovery tools from Symplectic. Saint Louis University Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) be implementing these platforms at SLU in the coming year, and an ORCID ID can help automatically populate profiles with publication information that will allow collaborators, journalists, and students find work easily.
With an ORCID ID, users have to do less manual entry of publications.
OVPR is asking faculty members to submit their ORCID ID by filling out a form. OVPR will then add faculty member's ORCID IDs to their SLU faculty profile in Elements and Discovery.
Providing an ORCID ID will enhance the name-based search for scholarship within Elements and greatly assist in name disambiguation.
Users can look up their ORCID ID online. Any faculty member who does not have one, can create one.
The deadline to provide an ORCID ID to the form is Thursday, Feb. 1.
