1818 Community Engagement Grant Impact Report Now Available

The 2023-2024 cycle for the 1818 Community Engagement Grant program concluded on May 31.
A comprehensive report has been prepared, highlighting the impact of the 18 selected projects. The full report can be found online.
Project Highlights: Some project highlights include A collaboration between the Department of Aviation Science, Claver House, and Hickey Elementary promoted access for underrepresented populations. The project engaged 25 4th-6th graders at Hickey Elementary with aviation and STEM programs. La Salud es Sabrosa and LifeWise STL partnered for weekly interactive cooking classes in the SLU Food Science Lab. These classes, aimed at low-income Hispanic families, focused on healthy cooking on a budget. CourtWatch STL conducted social observation at the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court, examining how defendants are processed and recording cases of disparities in court decisions and judicial treatment.
Overall, more than 1,500 people in the St. Louis community were impacted by the grants, which involved collaborations among 26 different departments and student organizations on campus. Learn more about the 1818 Community Engagement Grants program and its community impact this past year.
