SLU Varsity Esports Competing for a Spot in National Championship Finals

SLU Varsity League of Legends teams have returned to the top 4 out of 367 schools of the College League of Legends national championship hosted by Riot Games and University Esports.

Saint Louis University is scheduled to face off with Northwood University for a chance to clinch a top-3 finish. The match with Northwood will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 25. The match will be streamed on Twitch.

The winner of that match will move on to face the former two-time national champion St. Thomas. That match will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 26. 

The victorious team in the St. Thomas match will move on to the grand finals and face Maryville University on Saturday, June 8. 

The SLU starting roster for this weekends action will be Jett "Srtty" Joye in the Top Lane, Winston "Winnie" Herold in the Jungle, Isaac "Darkwings" Chou in the Middle Lane, Aaron "Airren" Li in the bottom lane, Daniel "Skytec" Soetikno as the support and Mervin "Dayos" Lachica as the head coach. 

SLU is 2-1 so far in the double-elimination tournament. The Billikens opened with a 3-0 loss to St. Thomas on May 11 to drop into the loser's bracket. SLU then defeated Ole Miss, 3-2, and Winthorp, 3-1.
