Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX Reviewing New Federal Title IX Regulations
The U.S. Department of Education recently unveiled a new set of regulations for Title IX, the 1972 civil rights law that prohibits sex discrimination in educational institutions and programs receiving federal funding.
These new rules — effective Aug. 1 — include revised guidance for responding to reports of sexual harassment and assault, along with expanded protections for LGBTQ+ and pregnant students.
The University’s Title IX Policy Review Committee is reviewing the new regulations to determine what changes are needed to ensure that SLU policies and procedures remain compliant with the law. The committee is a representative group comprised of students, faculty and staff.
Members of the SLU community who have questions or would like to provide input during the review process can contact Anna Kratky, the University’s Title IX coordinator and assistant director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX, at anna.kratky@slu.edu.
