Linguistics Guest Lecture Is November 15

10/31/2024

In this presentation, Cristina Sanz, Ph.D.,  and Alfonso Morales-Front, Ph.D., from Georgetown University will discuss their language development research during short-term academic immersion abroad. The event will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, at Morrissey Hall, room 0200.

The Georgetown professors will discuss how internal, individual factors such as motivation, anxiety and aptitude interact with external factors such as the program’s design to promote, or not, language development, especially, but not only, pronunciation development.

The professors will also go ‘meta’ when discussing the involvement of undergraduate students in their research program, students who had themselves participated in the study abroad programs, and the awareness that results from the experience of processing and analyzing the data, and reporting the findings.

This talk is sponsored by the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures.
