01/31/2025
The SLU community is invited to enjoy a vocal masterclass and concert featuring work of SLU Music students in collaboration with Canadian baritone Giuseppe Spoletini.
The masterclass takes place Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 12:45 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Mark Wilson Studio Theatre on the ground floor of Xavier Hall. The event will feature performances from students who will work with Spoletini to strengthen their technique and performance skills.
The masterclass culminates in a performance in St. Francis Xavier College Church, where the students showcase the pieces they worked in the masterclass alongside vocal performances from Spoletini himself.
The concert is Thursday, Feb. 6, at 7:30 p.m.
Both events are free and open to the public.
Giuseppe Spoletini has performed widely throughout Canada and the United States. Some of his previous roles include the title role in Gianni Schicchi, Il Conte in Le nozze di Figaro, Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Escamillo in Carmen, Sulpice in The Daughter of the Regiment, and Papageno in The Magic Flute, to name a few. Spoletini is equally at home on the oratorio stage, where he has been the soloist in such works as Elijah, Messiah, The Creation, and Brahms’s Requiem.
