Volunteers Needed for Presidential and MLK Scholarships Interviews

01/14/2025

This February and March, the Office of Admission will conduct virtual interviews with candidates for Saint Louis University’s prestigious Presidential and Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarships. All University faculty, staff and alumni are invited to volunteer in the interview process.

Interviews will be conducted virtually through an online portal called “StandOut.” Candidates will submit recorded responses to interview questions prepared by current Presidential and MLK scholars, and volunteer interviewers will be able to review and rate the candidates in their own time.

The Presidential Scholarship review period is Thursday, Jan. 30 to Friday, Feb. 7, and the MLK Scholarship review period is Monday, March 10, to Friday, March 28. Reviews for each scholarship will take an interviewer two to five hours to complete and they can be done all at once or spread out through the review period; whatever is best for your schedule.

The Presidential Scholarship is a full-tuition academic award that attracts the nation’s most outstanding high school students.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship is awarded to aspiring scholars who have demonstrated leadership as change agents within their school or community. These scholars must be committed to advancing Dr. King’s ideals, including social justice, leadership, and service to others. They are champions of social justice and equity, and advocates of increasing multicultural fluency and inclusion at SLU and in society.
