More Than 40 SLU Students Attend Capitol Advocacy Day
03/04/2025
The Center for Social Action and School of Social Work together brought more than 40 students to the Missouri State Capitol on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
Approximately half of the students supported Empower Missouri, an organization that works to secure basic human needs and equal justice for every person in our state through coalition-building and advocacy. The other half were working through their Policy Pods on health care access and criminal justice reform.
While in the Capitol, the group heard from State Representative LaKeySha Bosley. Bosley represents most of the area where Saint Louis University sits as well as surrounding communities. At the end of the day, students were able to attend a rally in the rotunda to hear from bill sponsors and impacted individuals.
"It was a great experience meeting with legislators and advocating for health care bills," one student said. "It comes to show how anyone can use their voices to spark change."
