8 (+1) Places to Study for Finals at SLU

Finals week is here and study space is getting scarce. Don't worry. We've scoped out campus and came up with a list of eight (nine, if you're willing to make a trip) quiet places to hit the books.

Students study in carrels at Pius XII Memorial Library.

Pius XII Memorial Library

SLU's top spot for studying on campus, Pius gets packed pretty quickly during Finals Week. Avoid the frustration and reserve your spot online through D!BS, the library's online room reservation system, or call the circulation desk at 314-977-3087.

Busch Student Center

Need a late-night study location? The BSC is open 24-hours from Dec. 6 to 9. Meet up with your study group in one of the classrooms or lounges, or find a quiet place to hide away in any of the sitting areas throughout the building.

John and Lucy Cook Hall

With more than 20 break-out rooms in the School of Business, there's plenty of places for students to meet and get work done. Rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis, so be sure to stake your claim early. And, of course, students can also study in the Shanahan Atrium.

Center for Global Citizenship

Studying alone? Caffe, located on the second floor, has ample seating and tasty international study snacks available for purchase. Need a larger space? Reserve one of the study cubes, located in the AT&T Commons, by contacting Events Services at events@slu.edu; reach out to Kathy Michael at michaelk@slu.edu to reserve a seminar or conference room; or contact the Cross Cultural Center at ccc@slu.edu to get access to the CGC's multipurpose room.

Starbucks

Get caffeinated and then get to work. Centrally located with plenty of workspace, the expanded seating area at the Clemens Hall location is the perfect spot to meet up with classmates.

Health Sciences Education Union

Looking to study on the south end of campus? The Health Sciences Education Union has two student lounges available for use: one for group work and another for quiet study. You can also sit and grab a bite to eat at the Union Cafe.

McDonnell Douglas Hall

If you can't find a spot in the library computer labs, check out the computer labs in the School of Engineering. Students can use the lab's computers and print from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Billiken's Lair in Fusz Hall

Open to midnight or later every night, students can hit the books in the indoor seating area or near the fire pits of the outdoor patio. With the widest selection of food anywhere on campus, this location is great for an afternoon lunch break or a late-night cram session.

Schlafly Branch, St. Louis Public Library

Feeling adventurous? A St. Louis Public Library branch is just a 10-minute ride away on the St. Louis Metro's 10 Gravois-Lindell line. Pick up the westbound bus across the street from College Church and get off at Lindell and Euclid. Fare is $2, and library hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
