Three Join Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing Faculty

Saint Louis University’s Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing will have three new faculty members join the University this semester.

The new faculty members include Amy Berkley, Ph.D., Amanda Flynn, DNP, and Katelyn Wilson, DNP.

“Each of our new faculty members brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in nursing practice and/or scholarship and research that will benefit the Valentine School. We are fortunate to have them join us at this great time in SLU’s evolution into the future.” said Danny Willis, DNS, dean of the Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing.

Amy Berkley has been appointed assistant professor, tenure-track in the Valentine School of Nursing. Berkley earned her advanced nursing degrees, both the MSN and Ph.D., from the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing, and completed a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center School of Nursing. She will be teaching in undergraduate and graduate nursing as appropriate drawing upon her knowledge, experience, and expertise. Her research interests primarily are focused on older adults, sleep disorders, and the care of people with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRDs).

Amanda Flynn has been appointed assistant professor, non-tenure track. Flynn earned her advanced nursing MSN degree from Maryville University and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree, from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA. She will be teaching in the graduate nursing program. Her area of scholarship and research focuses on workplace violence in health care, bullying, and cybercrime. She is a member of the Academy of Forensic Nursing (AFN) and lectures internationally on healthcare workplace violence, cyberbullying, and on topics of diversity and inclusion.

Katelyn Wilson has been appointed assistant professor, non-tenure track. Wilson is an advanced practice nurse practitioner with specialization in psychiatric mental health care. She served from 2016-2022 in the United States Air Force providing psychiatric care to active-duty service members and their families. She earned the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Nursing. She will be teaching in the graduate nursing programs drawing on her expertise in nursing education and psychiatric mental health care.
