Summary
This invention relates to metal nanoparticles having an epoxide-based oligomer coating, compositions thereof, methods of making the same, and methods of use thereof, including for energy-related applications.
In particular, aluminum nanoparticles have been synthesized using a bottoms-up decomposition of molecular adducts of alane (AlH3) and passivated by assembling and polymerizing small organic precursor molecules on the same nanoparticle surface in the same solution. The process can be tailored to produce materials for several possible applications.
