Summary
This intellectual property comprises a process for making a cryogel structure capable of incorporating and eluting honey for tissue engineering applications. Due to the macroporous structure of the cryogel, the controlled elution of honey has been shown to provide a chemotactic gradient to promote cellular infiltration, promote angiogenesis, and increase cellular proliferation and matrix production. The incorporation of Manuka honey also provides an antimicrobial effect.
