Summary
This invention relates to methods for transferring patterned and aligned carbon nanotubes (CNT) to hydrogels to promote directional cell growth for neural tissue engineering. CNTs have excellent electrical conductivity, which is beneficial for excitable neural tissues, strong mechanical properties, and morphology similar to neurites. Hydrogels mimic the physical and mechanical properties of soft tissues. Combining the two materials provides options for nerve regeneration applications.
