At the foundation of the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences is a commitment to faculty and student research.

Outside of the classroom, students and faculty are working on campus and in the community to examine the earth and the issues facing it through research projects. Our research centers support internationally-recognized research across a broad spectrum of the physical sciences, including seismology and solid earth geophysics, tectonics, synoptic meteorology, environmental systems, and the study of modern and ancient climate change.
