Through Saint Louis University’s 1818 Advanced College Credit Program, available at participating institutions across the country, high school students who demonstrate significant academic drive can get a head start on their college education at an affordable price.
Also referred to as dual credit, advanced college credit brings college-level coursework to the high school classroom. This credit can be transferred to hundreds of universities nationwide before the student even steps foot on a college campus. Through 1818, college credit is offered at lower rate than traditional university courses. Courses are taught at the student's high school by high school instructors qualified to teach college coursework.
Students who participate in the 1818 Program:
- Save money: Cost savings through the 1818 Program are significant. Students who participate in the 1818 Program save an average of $1,300 per college course.
- Save time: By taking college courses in high school, students have the potential to graduate from college early and create room in their schedules for opportunities like internships or study abroad.
- Have access to exceptional college-level courses with high-level instructors: 1818 instructors are some of the highest-qualified dual-credit providers in the country. All our instructors in the 1818 Program hold a higher degree in their discipline or equivalent. Our rigorous expectations ensure that instructors are highly certified to teach college-level coursework and that students receive exceptional instruction to prepare them for college-level coursework.
- Get the college immersive experience: 1818 students are SLU students! All 1818 students have access to the same tools and resources an undergraduate student might have here at SLU’s campus. Not to mention, our program offers several college immersion opportunities such as visits to campus, writing and arts competitions, virtual and in-person library research opportunities, and more.
- Earn highly transferable credit: Once enrolled, 1818 students receive a Saint Louis University official transcript. This transcript is the same transcript our undergraduates have, making our college credits highly transferable to colleges and universities nationwide.
