Corporate Ethics and Compliance Management Certificate

The Emerson Leadership Institute is currently redeveloping the certificate program in Corporate Ethics and Compliance Management (CECM). The content from the original course is being divided into smaller, topic-specific certificates that are more manageable for working professionals and provide the flexibility to create customized learning plans.

Foundations in Corporate Ethics and Compliance (FCEC) is the first course in the new series. The course provides a broad overview of ethics and compliance and introduces key topics in compliance education, training, fraud and risk assessment. The updated program features refreshed content, improved videos and a new online delivery platform.

About the Corporate Ethics and Compliance Management Certificate

The Emerson Leadership Institute's Certificate in Corporate Ethics and Compliance Management was a self-paced and fully online course offering applied learning sessions from industry leaders in the compliance field.

The goal of this program was to enhance skills for ethics and compliance professionals, lawyers and business managers to develop, implement, manage or simply better understand comprehensive corporate compliance programs. Participants who successfully completed the curriculum were presented with a certificate and the title of Certified in Corporate Ethics and Compliance Management (CECM).

The program consisted of 22 online sessions. Each session was organized around instructor videos, PowerPoint summaries, pertinent articles, practice quizzes and supplementary readings from the course textbook. With instructor videos featuring industry experts — including CEOs, Fortune 500 compliance officers and legal counsel, University professors, law firm partners and more — the program seamlessly combined academic rigor with real-world applications.

The program took roughly eight months to complete at four hours per week. The course was worth 13 Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) and was also possibly eligible for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits.

Assessment

Program participants took an online, multiple choice test to demonstrate their proficiency in the program topics. Assessment was based on participation, simulations and the final exam. Participants needed an overall passing grade of 75 percent to successfully complete the certificate program. The rigor of assessment for the certificate program adheres to Saint Louis University and the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business quality and outstanding academic standards.
