Over the summer of 2020, Amao completed an internship with Kubota Manufacturing of America Corporation — an opportunity he continued as a co-op in the fall. Kubota was Amao's second internship; his first was working with CW Bearing USA. Through these opportunities, Amao said he gained foundational skills in his chosen profession.

"[I] learned essential skills, through not only work but through applying to places, that I will continue to build on forever," he said.
Embracing Opportunities at SLU
Outside of class, Amao has also embraced opportunities to connect with other Billikens. He is active with tennis and organizations like the National Society of Black Engineers, African American Male Scholars and Black Student Alliance.
Amao said he visited Saint Louis University Career Services to seek advice, particularly tips on best representing himself and gaining employment at places he hoped to work.
