Dr. Goss Delivers Plenary Lecture in Romania on Spanish Film

SLU-Madrid professor Brian M. Goss, Ph.D., recently participated in the 11th annual “Comparativism, Identity and Communication” conference in Craiova, Romania. For the second year in a row, Dr. Goss, program director in the Department of Communication, was given a featured role at the event as the first plenary speaker.

His presentation drilled down into the 2014 Spanish film, "La Isla Mínima." Directed by Alberto Rodríguez, the film is set in 1980 in the rural Seville province. Goss examined the film’s regional, generic, historical and ideological influences.

Information from the conference may also be part of a future project.

“Last year, the conference organizers were very diligent about transforming the conference into a published volume and they are eager to also immortalize this year’s conference in book form," Goss said.
