Spring 2020 Preview
12/18/2019
At the beginning of each semester, SLU-Madrid buzzes with activity as students meet the faculty and settle into their routines.
Thursday, January 9 is the first day of classes. Academic advisors and faculty will be available to help students finalize their course schedules. We are pleased to offer the following new courses in Spring 2020:
- ARTH 2050 Controversy in Art
- CMM 4930 Creation of Transmedia Stories
- ECON 4600 Public Finance
- ENGL 4640 British Culture and Travel: The Victorians at Home and Abroad
- HIST 3420 The Atlantic World
- MKT 4400 Consumer Behavior
- THEO 3930 Religion and Ecology
Outside the classroom, both new and returning students can learn about Spain's history and culture through campus-sponsored excursions to Toledo, the Monasterio de Piedra, Segovia and Salamanca (sign up and pay in the Finance Office). Students will be able to find out about campus clubs, activities, service opportunities, sports and more at the activities fair in SIH Lounge on Thursday, January 9, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
This spring's Theatre Workshop production will be Henrik Ibsen's "Hedda Gabler." An unsparing portrait of a woman stifling in a bourgeois marriage who gives in to her most destructive impulses, the play also includes a great deal of dark comedy and social satire. Though written in 1890, the play remains resonant and powerful today. Auditions and crew sign-up will be held Monday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 in the dance studio. All are welcome - no experience necessary. Participants enroll in THR 3650 Theatre Workshop (1-2 credits) or THR 3660 Theatre Practicum (0 credits).
Information about the latest events and activities throughout the semester is available in the weekly campus news email updates. Be sure to check your SLU email.
