09/27/2021
For more than 50 years, Saint Louis University – Madrid Campus has been bringing together a global community of students for a transformative, educational experience in Spain's vibrant capital city.
The Fall 2021 student body is a multicultural community of nearly 800 students from 52 different countries. The most frequently reported nationalities among current students are the United States and Spain, followed by Italy, Morocco, Lebanon, Venezuela and the Philippines. The remaining students are from dozens of other countries across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
Among degree-seeking students, international business is the most popular major, with 145 students, followed by political science/international relations, psychology, communication, computer science, international studies, Spanish and engineering. These figures include the 74 students who are pursuing double majors.
SLU-Madrid is currently hosting 300 visiting students from SLU-St. Louis and 15 other institutions. These students also bring diversity to SLU-Madrid in terms of nationality, hailing from countries including Ireland, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Spain, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, in addition to the United States.
At SLU-Madrid, we believe that studying with people from other cultures prepares students to meet the challenges of our increasingly globalized world by promoting diverse thinking, personal growth, communication skills, and understanding across cultural and social divides.
In the words of Sofía Zamit, SLU-Madrid Class of 2019, "As a SLU-Madrid student, I had the privilege of meeting and studying alongside people from all around the world. My closest friends are from different countries. SLU-Madrid helped me to grow as a person in ways I could never have imagined while also giving me the practical tools needed to succeed in my professional career, such as learning to work in a multicultural environment."
