2025 Match Day: SLU Medical Students Secure Residencies Nationwide
ST. LOUIS — (March 25, 2025) Saint Louis University’s School of Medicine students participated in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP), which matches students annually with the programs where they will complete their residency training.
Before Match Day, students apply and interview at residency programs in their chosen specialties and rank their preferences. The residency programs also rank their student preferences. The rank lists are then matched through the NRMP.
On Friday, March 21, the SLU School of Medicine Class of 2025 gathered at the Chase Park Plaza in the Central West End to discover their matches.
The ceremony included addresses from Christine Jacobs, M.D., vice president for medical affairs and dean of the School of Medicine; Chad Miller, M.D., senior associate dean for undergraduate medical education; and class elected speakers Ayanna Shambe and Girija Vaidya.
“We warmly welcome those who will continue their training at SLU, and for those moving on, we know they will carry SLU with them—in the medical knowledge, clinical skills, and resilience they've honed over the last four years. Congratulations on this milestone!” Jacobs said.
The SSM Health/Saint Louis University School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education (GME) program successfully matched144 GME positions in the NRMP Match! Among these, 23 positions are filled by SLU medical students. Miller echoed Jacobs sentiments during his address.
“It has been an honor to watch the transformation from unsure but enthusiastic M1 students to the seasoned students that you are today,” Miller said. “Match Day is not just about where you will spend the next few years of your training. It’s a celebration of your dedication, hard work and resilience.”
