The Transformative Workforce Academy will host its virtual Second Chance Job Fair in mid-October.
The Second Chance Job Fair encourages employers to look beyond applicants’ criminal records and helps job seekers navigate the application process. Learn more about how to prepare for the fair below.
Once job seekers have signed up to attend the Second Chance Job Fair, they will be connected to a job coach who will help them through the job fair process. Job seekers meet with their coach according to their schedule, but there is NO in-person fair to attend.
Instead, we ask job seekers to film a two-minute video pitch for employers covering the questions below. All videos will be due on Tuesday, Oct. 15. After employers view the virtual pitches on Oct. 22 and 23, SLU TWA will reach out to connect you with employers interested in setting up an interview.
Questions to address in the video resume
- What work-related skills and traits do you have?
- What past work experience do you have? Feel free to also speak to education, training, or volunteer experience, if applicable.
- How have you overcome challenges in your life, and how has this helped you become a better employee?
- What motivates you now?

Employers are invited to view video pitches from talented justice-involved jobseekers across the region during the virtual Second Chance Job Fair. After the fair, TWA will connect you with the jo bseekers you would like to interview.
The fair begins with a virtual opening ceremony where employers learn more about the fair and how to support justice-involved employees. After the opening ceremony, each employer receives their own individualized set of candidate videos tailored to their hiring needs. Employers will have two days to review these videos and select the candidates they would like to interview.
