Recording Studio Policy

The ATC Recording Studio at Saint Louis University's Pius XII Memorial Library offers a fully featured recording studio where SLU students, faculty and staff can record video, vocals, voiceovers, sound effects, and musical instruments, as well as edit, mix, and master audio/video recordings of any kind.

Studio Policies

  • The studio is intended for use by currently enrolled SLU undergraduate and graduate students.
  • The studio is to be used for video and audio recording only. Any other use may result in the loss of studio privileges.
  • Only noncommercial projects are permitted.
  • Academic uses have priority over all other uses.
  • No food or drink is allowed in the studio room or control room area except for water in containers with secure closures.
  • Smoking, vaping, or use of an ignition source (e.g. a lighter) in the studio is strictly prohibited.
  • The reservation holder will be held accountable for any damage to or the loss of equipment attributable to their session.
  • Reservations are scheduled on the hour and may be made for two or four hours of duration.
  • An ATC staff member will manage the studio control room.
  • The occupancy of the recording studio shall not exceed three people at a time.
  • Failure to comply with policies may result in the suspension of studio use and ATC equipment check-out privileges.  

Expectations

Reservations

  • Reserve your session by filling out the ATC Recording Studio Reservation Request. You must sign in to make a reservation.
  • When making a reservation note the specific purpose of the recording session. If it is related to academics, please include the course name.
  • The person who made the reservation must provide their SLU ID when checking in with the ATC Studio staff member.
  • Reservations will be held for 10 minutes past the requested start time.

During Your Session

  • The reservation requester is responsible for ensuring that the conduct of all participants complies with policies and expectations.
  • Report any issues with the equipment immediately to the ATC Studio staff member.
  • Users are responsible for saving and backing up their own files.
  • Software installation is not allowed. Do not unplug any cables. 
  • No personal equipment other than a USB drive may be attached to the studio computer.

Concluding Your Session

  • The last 15 minutes of a recording session is considered transition time.
  • All participants must vacate the studio five minutes before the reservation's conclusion, including removing their belongings and any checked-out equipment. 
  • If any furniture has been moved, please place it back in the original location(s). 
  • Dispose of any trash outside of the studio area.
  • Failure to adhere to expectations may result in suspension of studio use and equipment check-out privileges.
  • You may be charged for any damage to or loss of equipment from the studio caused by misuse or inattention.
