Making an Appointment

All counseling sessions are confidential, free, and available to all students currently enrolled at Saint Louis University — Madrid Campus.

Request a Counseling Consultation

The University Counseling Center is in Padre Rubio Hall, Room 104.

What Can I Expect at an Appointment?

During an initial appointment, the counselor will ask questions to learn more about your needs and concerns. The counselor will listen nonjudgmentally, provide immediate support as needed, and help you create a care plan that responds to your needs. This plan could include:

  • Follow-up sessions with one of our counselors.

Counseling sessions are structured, confidential meetings with a trained counselor. They can cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to interpersonal problems, life transitions, personal development, grief and loss, cultural adaptation, time and organizational skills, and stress management.
  • Referral to off-campus providers, such as psychotherapy and psychiatry services.

Our counselors might refer you to an off-campus mental health provider in situations involving persistent concerns including but not limited to depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, substance abuse, personality disorders, or other challenges that may benefit from clinical intervention. Counselors can also provide you with information and resources about other mental health practitioners in the Madrid area.
  • Referral to other student support services, on and off campus, that might be beneficial.
