Media Lab

The Media Lab is the hub of student productions at SLU-Madrid. Here, students will be able to create meaningful, compelling audiovisual projects by combining an intellectual understanding of communication with the equipment and services available in the center.

Students have access to a wide range of resources to produce their media projects. Working independently or as a group, students can get hands-on experience with:

  • Audio recorders, digital cameras, gimbals, lighting equipment and tripods.
  • Professional-grade editing hardware and software, including Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Advanced audio equipment for podcasting, interviewing, and audio design.

Bookings

Students can book 60-minute increments in our audio studio, from Monday to Friday. 

We offer walk-ins to use the editing room during the lab's opening hours.

Policies

Students don't need specific permission from a professor to use the Media Lab. However, they must share their name, student ID, course/department, and email address with us.

If students want to check out equipment, they must inspect all equipment with the Media Lab staff and sign a checkout form upon release.

Checkout Policies

  • All equipment has a 48-hour checkout policy. Students can check out equipment on Friday and return it on Monday. Otherwise, students must physically return to the lab with their equipment to extend their checkout for another 48 hours.
  • When students check out equipment, they must submit their name, student ID, the course they're enrolled in and their email address. 
  • Students are responsible for all information written on their checkout form. Late equipment return will result in loss of checkout privileges. 
  • Students are responsible for any equipment damage that occurs between checkout and check-in as a result of negligence, misuse or loss.
